How to Use Simple Lines to Maximize Your Style Chic
June 12, 2015

Flap button pockets, roll-up tab
sleeves, contrasting buttons
down front, & tie belt are details
that interrupt simple lines.
Simple clothing lines maximize style chic by:

  • Providing classic garment types that flatter your figure.
  • Forming basic, classic pieces that may never go out of style.
  • Enabling mix-and-match pieces to stretch your wardrobe dollar.

What do we mean by simple lines?

It does not mean unfitted or baggy.
Sheath dress with round neckline
that adapts to many necklace
and scarf lengths. Seaming relieves
stark plainness of the front.
Classic Chanel- or box-type open
front jacket. Two timeless pieces.

An A-line, princess seam, or sheath dress has simple lines.

A dress with ruching, flounces, ruffles, epaulettes, piping, pleated bodice and the like does not have simple lines.

A wrap or faux-wrap dress is in between -- neither completely simple lines nor especially complicated.

A simple dress, especially one in a flattering color, may be dressed up with accessories such as a necklace or scarf, worn with a jacket for a professional look, or used with a dramatic shawl for evening.

Flats, low-heels, or higher heels further adapt for the look for the setting in which it will be worn.

These same principles hold true for tops and jackets.

A simple shell -- fitted with darts, sleeveless or cap sleeves -- is a plain top that may be worn with anything from jeans to a velvet skirt.

A safari blouse, with epaulettes, multiple pockets, and tab sleeves, may only be worn with sportier looks.
Black-and-white houndstooth plaid
may be worn with many colors.
For example, the jacket might be
worn over a red, green, or
mustard dress or monochrome
skirt an dtop. Add black
collar and cuffs, and pairing with
other colors may look mismatched.
The trim also suggests a dressier
look not appropriate for sportswear.

A plain blazer is versatile. It may be worn with sportier looks or as part of a professional outfit. Once we add piping in a contrast color, the versatility is limited.

The look is now upscale. The colors with which the jacket may be teamed are limited to those that match either the dominant color or trim.

Sometimes the inner self dwells in silence, fermenting what we need to become one’s best self.

In silence, art is created. Inventions take shape. Forests grow. Fledglings hatch.

A butterfly unfurls its wings for the first time.

A flower opens its petals to greet the sun.

Arguments that might have happened dissolve into nothing.

Would-have, could-have, should-have rests and becomes peace.

When one has nothing to say, it is best not to say it.

Sophia is the goddess energy of spiritual wisdom.
