David Rand knows leather. His father started manufacturing leather handbags in 1969. Bags by Pinky is now located in Miramar, Florida, and the elder Mr. Rand still comes to the plant every day. These leather handbags, like Earth Creations clothing, are made in America. The feather-light leather is imported from Italy. Rand says that metallic finished leather will continue as popular accent accessories in Fall and Winter 2008.
The bag pictured appears to use ostrich skin. In fact, it is part of elaborate embossing, pressing and dying processes. Rand and his wife figure out how to combine the textures and colors in attractive combinations. This deep blue metallic is an unusual color. Three different embossed textures are used. This large leather bag is lightweight and durable because of the high quality leather.
